free library cards!

I was asked to send along the note below. Please note that an easel will be set up in the Berlin Elementary School lobby with information regarding the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. We're hoping this will help you become aware of the many offerings at our community library. I hope you'll find time soon to go visit and in the meantime, checkout their website!

Dear Berlin residents,

Thank you so much for your support of the Kellogg-Hubbard Library on Town Meeting Day!

Voter turnout was huge and I think this helped the Library to be successful. Usage of the Library went down over the course of last year when we needed to charge Berlin residents for a library card, and I am thrilled that there is now free access for all Town residents.

Please visit Kellogg-Hubbard to obtain, or renew, your free library card. Just some of what you will find at the library:

Over 60,000 books, DVDs, audio books, magazines and newspapers.
The wonderful children’s library with parenting books, and materials for infants to young readers.

Ten computer workstations with high-speed access to the Internet.
A wide range of educational programming for children and adults.
Now available: free download of audio books. (Go to the Library’s website, www.kellogghubbard.org, and follow the link to Listen Up! Vermont.)
The Kellogg-Hubbard Library is committed to serving you to achieve our mission: preserve yesterday, inform today, and inspire tomorrow. Thank you again for your support.

quick updates

The popcorn machine is working again and popcorn sales will resume on Tuesday, April 15th and continue with the regular Tuesday & Friday schedule. Popcorn is just 25 cents a bag. The money raised goes for the big 5/6 field trip that happens every other year. Last year 5/6 went to Boston for the day.

The bike helmets form (bike helmets available for just $8.50) which was part of last Friday's newsletter had the wrong date on it. Forms and CASH for the helmets is due in on Friday, April 18th. The form is also available on line where archived newsletters are under News & Info.

April vacation is next week (the week of April 21st).

I noticed the other day that Ben & Jerry's FREE ice cream cone day is coming up soon - Tuesday, April 29th. I don't have the exact times but typically it's from noontime until early evening. If you've never gone before, yes, the Montpelier scoop shop at City Center on Main Street participates and the cones really are free and the line moves rather quickly!

Also note that the Bike Swap in Montpelier is coming up on Saturday, May 3rd. Used bikes at great prices on Langdon Street in Montpelier. Thanks to Onion River Sports for continuing this great annual event! Contact them for details if you're interested in bringing in a bike to sell http://www.onionriversports.com/ or just show up Saturday morning, May 3rd if you're interested in buying one.
