Ben & Jerry FREE movies Saturday nights in Waterbury
Have you ever attended? When there was a local scoop shop we went frenquently but not as much now that it means a trip to Waterbury. Still, it's a fun time. Bring chairs or a blanket, the movie is projected on a wall outside the scoop shop at the factory. Bring a snack or buy some icecream (there may be some free samples but not positive). Movies are Saturday at dusk. The time varies, I think tonight is about 8:30. Go early to get settled. Tonight 7/23 is Iron Man 2. Movie schedule http://www.benjerry.com/scoop-shops/factory-tours/ 7/30 Yogi Bear; 8/6 Toy Story 3, 8/13 TRON Legacy and 8/20 is Gnomeo & Juliet. This happens every summer, every week in July & August. Ben & Jerry's also shows the movies on Tuesdays up in Burlington.

DANCING! Quite a while back I put out a message about ballroom dancing. I have a high confidence level in making ballroom dance lessons available in Berlin in the near future - who wants to participate?! This Sunday evening there is an opportunity to join in on some ballroom dancing in Brookfield. It's high recommended Mike and I have been enjoying the lessons down there at the Town Hall for several years. The cost is $10 per person and you don't have to come as a couple. It's Sunday, July 24th 7:30-9:30pm. This week Carolyn Pedrick will give mini-lessons in the waltz and the rumba. You don't need to have previous experience. It's fine to bring your own snacks / drinks. There will be some soda type of beverages for sale there. The waltz lesson will be at 7:30 and at 8:30 will be the rumba. A night of ballroom dancing will also take place on Sunday, August 28th with the tango and a second dance which will be decided this Sunday. Don't miss out on this fun opportunity and make sure to let me know if you're interested in something local... I'm not sure whether it would be during the week or on the weekend. Need to find out the instructors availability. This Sunday is your chance to check it out!

In the event of an emergency, this email group would NOT be utilized - the way it's set up makes it too time consuming. There are other ways for you to be connected:
The Berlin Emergency Management Team has an email group to better keep you informed on emergency situations and dangers facing the town. To join this list click on http://groups.google.com/group/berlin-emergency-management/ and click on “Join this group” in the right hand column.

Berlin Emergency Management is now on facebook. Help the team keep you informed by joining this page and sharing it with others.

WDEV Radio AM 550 and FM 96.1 is also a great source of local information.

Would you like to help the town in the event of an emergency or disaster? Berlin Emergency Management is looking to expand our team to update our emergency plans and staff the emergency operations center in the event of an emergency. We are looking for strong individuals with experience in operations, planning, and especially logistics. Emergency management experience is not necessarily, just a willingness to serve your town and help your neighbors. There are some trainings that will be required but have no cost to you other than your time.
