The Berlin PTNA is running the food concession for the
**Vermont State Scholastic Chess Championships**
which will be held THIS SATURDAY, April 11th at Berlin Elementary School.
We're looking for folks who are able to donate desserts for this event - cookies, bars, brownies, cupcakes, quick breads, pies, fruit. Items can be dropped off Saturday morning. If you use any type of dish that would need to be returned, please label it!
There are 135 students from kindergarten through high school registered so far and we're expecting more to register at the door. We hope this will be a great fundraiser for the PTNA!
Feel free to drop by and check out the chess tournament - Rochester Chess Center will be there with chess supplies for sale and they'll be setting up a GIANT chess set for kids to use. The gym will be where players hang out inbetween their matches, playing chess and other games. Of course you're welcome to buy breakfast, a snack or lunch in support of the PTNA! The menu for the day includes: Breakfast sandwiches * Yogurt * Apples * Bananas * Wayside donuts * Muffins *
Hamburgers * cheeseburgers * Hotdogs * Chips * Lasagna * Pizza * Desserts * Beverages
If you feel you're able to help in some other way such as at the registration table or with set up, food concession or clean up, please let me know. If you're a chess player and could be a room monitor, we're still looking for one or two folks. - Thanks, Corinne

In Vermont you'll soon be able to check out something new at the library: a free park pass for the day - "Check out the Parks" program. At each of the 182 public libraries, there will be a free park pass for a day. People can sign it out like a book. The goal is to get more people interested in using the state's 52 parks and in getting a season pass. "From our point of view it's really an excellent opportunity to get more people into our parks and we are quite confident that if they can have a good experience or when they have a good experience they will be return customers not just this year but in future seasons as well," Vt. Forest Parks & Rec Commissioner Jason Gibbs said. The passes will be available at public libraries starting at the end of April.
