No Strings Marionette Company has a new production - The Hobbit. Saturday, November 29th at 11am this can be seen at the Chandler Music Hall in Randolph, all seats $5 . Check out the No Strings calendar to find when and where else you can see this or one of their other productions. If you haven't yet, be sure to register your dog(s). The town of Berlin now has a contract for an animal control officer and one aspect of the job is following through making sure dogs are registered.

School board meeting - There is a special meeting of the school board on Tuesday, December 2nd at 6pm in the Berlin School Learning Center. On the agenda is the admission of non-resident student (policy F14). Discussion of application timeline and available space. Designate three voting members - WCSU Full Board. Animal Dissection Policy - Adoption. Budge Discussion - Draft 2

"Champlain: The Lake Between," commemorates the Champlain quadricentennial will premiere Wednesday, Dec. 3rd at 8pm on VT Public Television and will repeat Dec 13 at 7:30am and Dec 14th at noon. The film tells little known stories about Lake Champlain's critical role in the struggle for economic and military dominance during the early years of the United States and Canada. Trade alliances created both conflict and connections among Abenaki, Mohawk, French, English and Dutch people.

PTNA Thursday, December 4th 6:30pm in the Learning Center - on the agenda is to hear more about a Nurturing Parenting Program that will begin at Berlin Elem. on Jan. 6th. It is free of charge!! "an educational program that works with the whole family. Families participate in the 2 1/2 hour fun & educational sessions that meet weekly. At each session, adults and children take part in separate, age-appropriate activities as well as share food and family time together." Also on the agenda is discussion on the upcoming Holiday Bazaar which will be held on Dec 16th & 18th.

Vermont ski resorts open up their doors to first-time skiers and riders for FREE lessons, rentals and lift tickets. The week of January 4-11, 2009 has been designated for the Ski Vermont New Year’s Resolution program. First time skiers and snowboarders are invited to sign up to learn to ski or ride at their favorite resort any time during this week – for FREE. The program is open to all beginner skiers and snowboarders ages 6 and up. Packages include lessons, rentals and a limited terrain lift ticket. Statewide Food Drive - In January there will be a statewide effort to collect donations for food shelves which will culminate on Martin Luther King Day. The Town of Berlin is making plans to be involved. Students don't have school on MLK Day but could be collecting food and monetary donations the week before. The thought is that people are making donations around the holidays but it will continue to be difficult for families after the holidays. If there is some way that you or your business can help with this effort, please let me know.
