POTATOES! - on a Sunday in September which has not yet been announced, will be the long standing tradition of potato picking at the Chappelle Potato Farm in Williamstown, Vermont. The Stridsberg family has been going behind the digger for probably 20 years picking hundreds of pounds of potatoes every year, mostly for their own use! The cost is well below what you pay in the grocery store. Bring your buckets or sacks and wear your boots and old clothes. We have one more child fundraising for their 8th grade trip to DC so if you don't want to pick the potatoes yourself or just can't make it there - you'll still able to buy potatoes at below store cost through us and help a good cause! Fresh & local - You can also buy 50 lb sacks of various grades of potatoes from the Chappelle warehouse throughout most of the year. More information to come when the picking date is announced. 3242 South Hill Road Williamstown 433-5930

September 3rd!! Any young singers looking to join an ensemble? This came to me from Stefanie who is Andrea Bonamico's sister (Andrea is the chorale director at U-32). Please note there is a fee involved.

Young Singers of Vermont Program To Launch Sept. 3 at Crosset Brook

The Mad River Chorale will inaugurate its newest educational outreach program on Sept. 3 with an informational meeting about the Young Singers of Vermont ensembles.
The meeting, from 4 to 5 p.m. in Crosset Brook Middle School on Route 100 in Duxbury, will be to explain to parents and guardians the basics of a program to provide musical instruction for students in grades 1-12 with goals of enabling youthful singers to pursue music as a career or simply enjoy it as a recreation.
Piero Bonamico, artistic director of the Mad River Chorale, said that plans are to have weekly rehearsals throughout the school years for several different ensembles based upon age. In addition, the Young Singers Choruses will perform alone, in conjunction with the Mad River Chorale and with orchestral support throughout 2009-10.
“Singers will graduate as musicians,” promised Bonamico, who with his wife, Andrea, will direct the program, and lead a team of professionals who are prominent as both musical instructors and performers throughout Central Vermont. The manager of the choruses will be Alexis Murphy-Egri, choral director for the Montpelier School District High School and Middle School. The accompanist will be Mary Jane Austin-Reynolds.
Rehearsals are scheduled to begin Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. at Crosset Brook for the Treble Ensembles of Grades 1-3 and 4-6. And on Sept. 12 at U-32 High School for the two Mixed Ensembles of Grades 7-9 and 10-12.
Other notable dates are: Oct. 11, Fall Concert; Dec. 13 & 23, Holiday Concerts.

VOLUNTEER DRIVERS NEEDED TO DELIVER MEALS ON WHEELS TO BERLIN SENIORS We're looking for Berlin to form a volunteer group of about 8 - 10 drivers for serving Meals on Wheels to Berlin seniors. These volunteers would be ask to deliver following a designated route from 10 a.m. - 12.30 p.m. each day. In most cases, the meals need to be delivered 7 days a week, but the number of days per volunteers would depend on the number of volunteers. If you are interested in participating as a volunteer driver, please contact Pat McDonald at 476-8411 or by email at patmcdonald8411@charter.net. MHDP has advised that each volunteer will be subject to a background check and must have a vehicle, insurance and a valid drivers license. Volunteers do not receive mileage reimbursement. Once Berlin is able to get a group together, we will have a meeting with MHDP's Kimberley Lashua to discuss the program in more detail, answer all your questions, and finalize details.
