Curious about the part of Berlin along the Winooski before it was annexed? At the Berlin Historical Society meeting tonight (7/18/12 ) at 7pm there will be a very interesting presentation. Manuel Garcia will give a talk on “Berlin before 1900 along the Winooski”. Manny has researched this area that was annexed by Montpelier about 1899 and has obtained many photos including the old Berlin Town Building on School Avenue and the schoolhouse that was located on Prospect Street near the head of School Avenue . This meeting will be held at the Berlin Town Office.
From the June minutes: "Norb talked to a Maximillian Shoenherr, a visitor from Berlin , Germany , who is a journalist and works for public radio in Germany . He was interested in our town because it had a German name. He ended up posting some interesting facts about Berlin , Vermont on Wikipedia" - which can be found here: internet.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin,_Vermont
More on the Berlin Historical Society can be found on the town website: http://www.berlinvt.org

No matter what time of year it is, keep in mind that the Berlin PTNA (Parent, Teacher, Neighbor Association) collects Box Tops for Education and Campbell product labels. The Box Tops are worth 10cents each and the labels are worth points for products from a catalogue. Collection bins are located in the school lobby and over at the town office. More information regarding these programs.

Another collection at the school are the aluminum pull tabs from cans. The goal is to collect ONE MILLION! They are well on their way with some clear plastic tubs filling.
